JUST IN: Katsina Gov Holds Emergency Security Meeting After Terrorists Attack

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, is currently presiding over an emergency Security Council meeting at the Government House, Katsina.

The Monday session has convened heads of security agencies in the state, chairmen of affected local government areas, and representatives from the Nigerian Army, Defence Headquarters, and the Department of State Services.

Also in attendance are officials from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, alongside prominent traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other senior government officials, is also present.

The meeting follows Sunday’s violent attack by bandits on Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area, which claimed three lives, including a policeman.

The assailants reportedly ambushed the police station, attacked the Primary Health Care Centre, and looted multiple shops in the town.

In response, Governor Radda visited Sayaya village to assess the damage to the affected facilities, including the health centre and local businesses. He met with residents, offering condolences and reassurance.

During the visit, the Governor expressed sympathy to the Divisional Police Officer and officers of the command over the loss of their colleague and extended condolences to the families impacted by the violence.

Further details are expected to follow.
