Bandits abduct couple from farm in Kaduna community

Bandits have abducted Bitrus Jayawa and his wife, Martha Bitrus, from a farm in Katambi community in Kachia local government area of Kaduna state.

The incident reportedly occurred around 9:12am on Monday while the couple were clearing their farm ahead of cultivation.

Markus Iliya, a resident of Katambi, said the couple had gone to the farm with three of their children when the attackers arrived.

Iliya said the children spotted the bandits first and fled before the attackers seized their parents.

“It was even the three children of the victims, who sighted the bandits coming into the farm, before they escaped and the bandits went after the couple,” he said.

A community leader who requested anonymity also confirmed the abduction, saying security operatives were alerted immediately after the incident.

“Although before the troops stationed at Kurutu junction could arrive the farm, the bandits had already escaped with the victims into the forest.”

Hassan Mansur, spokesperson of the Kaduna police command, has yet to confirm the incident.
