Four people killed in fresh terrorist attacks on Kebbi communities

Four people have been reported killed following a fresh attack by terrorists in several communities in the Shanga area of Kebbi State.
It was gathered that members of a new terrorist group, Mamudawa launched the attacks on the communities leading to the death of four people.
According to residents, the gun-wielding criminals invaded the communities in the Gebbe District of Shanga Local Government Area of the state between Sunday and Monday, April 5 and 6.
Sources said, details showed the attackers emerged from the Wawa forest, which is located in Borgu LGA of Niger State.
According to the source, upon invasion of the communities, the attackers began by setting some buildings in Kalkami, Tungar Bori, and Kawara ablaze.
“The terrorists burnt down Kawara village on Monday. Shanga Local Government Area has come under persistent attacks by bandits, cattle rustlers, and kidnappers seeking ransom payments in recent times,” the source said.
While stating that the exact number of victims of the attack is yet to be ascertained, the source said at least four people have been confirmed dead.
Confirming the incident, the Vice Chairman of Shanga LGA, Adamu Gebbe said the attack was not the first by members of the Mamudawa terror group.
Also speaking, Haruna Usman, the district head of Genbe most of the residents of the affected communities have fled for their lives.
He added that some residents are currently taking refuge in Gungu, and others have fled into the nearby bushes for safety.
In addition, the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the attack was carried out by Mamudawa terrorists.
The Kebbi Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Bashir Usman, in a statement claimed the terrorists took advantage of the wetland terrain to attack the communities.
