INEC Moves Osun Commisioner to Ondo Ahead of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has moved its Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke, to Ondo State, just months before the next governorship election.
Dr Agboke confirmed his transfer in a message shared on Wednesday.
His movement is coming at a time when preparations are gradually building up for the Ondo governorship poll.
In his statement, he wrote, “Good evening all.
“I have been transferred to Ondo State. I thank you most sincerely for the support given to me throughout my stay here in Osun state.
“May God Almighty support you all as well.”
His exit from Osun follows months of active engagement across the state. He had recently held meetings with political stakeholders in all 30 local government areas.
The meetings focused on voter awareness and peaceful participation ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The transfer is seen as part of INEC’s routine administrative reshuffling. Such moves are often carried out to strengthen electoral preparations and ensure neutrality ahead of major elections.
