Niger ADC Suspends Congresses Until Further Notice

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State has suspended all planned congresses across the state’s 25 local government areas until further notice.
The party’s chairman, Musa Hassan, announced the decision in a statement sent to PUNCH Online on Wednesday, citing adherence to the rule of law, due process, and judicial authority as the reason for the suspension.
Hassan warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state not to recognise any congress organised by unauthorised committees. He also urged the public to disregard any directives or announcements from individuals acting without proper authority.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Niger State Chapter of the party, under the leadership of Alh Musa Hassan, hereby announces the immediate suspension of all planned and proposed congresses across the state, until further notice.
“This decision underscores our unwavering commitment to the rule of law, due process, and respect for judicial authority.
“We therefore call on all 25 Local Government Chairmen, party members and stakeholders to remain calm, law-abiding, and peaceful throughout this period.
“This is to inform Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state not to recognise anything done by unconstitutional committees, those parading themselves in the state.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the tenure of the current ADC Executive Committee in Niger State, as well as in other states, remains constitutionally valid and duly recognised by INEC.
“Consequently, the general public is strongly advised to disregard any directives, announcements, or actions from unauthorised individuals falsely parading themselves as party leaders.
“The party will duly communicate new dates for congresses and conventions following the conclusion of ongoing national consultations and meetings.
“We urge all members and supporters of the ADC to continue to uphold peace, unity, and discipline as we navigate this period,” he said.
