Wike-Backed PDP NWC Begins Renovation of Party National Secretariat

The Nyesom Wike-backed National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun renovation work at Wadata Plaza, the party’s national secretariat.
Journalists monitoring activities at the PDP headquarters in Zone 5 on Monday observed ongoing renovation work ahead of staff resumption.
The development follows the recent unsealing of the party secretariat by the police, which granted access to the Wike-aligned faction.
Barricades previously placed around the main building have been removed, although a few police vehicles were still seen stationed within the premises, with officers providing security.
A party member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told NAN that the renovation began on Sunday.
“The staff members of the party’s national secretariat are yet to resume, but the renovation works started yesterday (Sunday).
“The ongoing renovation works include painting, replacing air conditioners, changing locks and keys in offices, as well as reallocating offices to members of the new National Working Committee (NWC).
“However, I think the challenge now is that some staff members loyal to the Tanimu Turaki–led NWC may find it difficult to come and resume here,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, no party officials had resumed at the secretariat.
Recall that the faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, had on Saturday announced the reopening of the PDP national secretariat and the presidential campaign office, Legacy House, Maitama, in Abuja.
