Policemen reject ₦100m bribe, intercept 60 tonnes of vandalised railway materials in Nasarawa
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rejected a ₦100 million bribe while intercepting 60 tonnes of vandalised railway materials in Akwanga, Nasarawa state.
The operation, carried out by the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), led to the arrest of two suspects on April 9, 2026.
The suspects, Chisom Goodnews, 32, and Ahmed Adamu, 22, were apprehended following credible intelligence.
Police said the intercepted materials, comprising railway tracks and sleepers, were concealed under sacks of groundnut shells in a trailer truck.
According to the force, the items were being transported from Bauchi State to Ilorin in an attempt to evade detection.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck driver was contracted for ₦2.5 million to move the vandalised materials.
The police said further findings point to an organised supply chain involving receivers of stolen infrastructure.
The trailer truck used in conveying the items has been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
IGP Tunji Disu commended the operatives for rejecting the bribe and described their conduct as a reflection of professionalism and integrity.
