Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has openly endorsed the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring it the strongest and most credible platform for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He made this known in Jalingo during the commissioning of the ADC’s new state secretariat, where he said the party represents the clearest path out of the widespread economic and social hardship currently confronting the nation.

Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, said Nigerians cannot afford to repeat past mistakes.

According to him, the ADC has assembled the kind of leadership that can deliver stability, accountability, and national recovery.

He described the party as the “best option” for citizens who want real change and a break from the struggles under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.

Speaking to party supporters and residents who gathered for the event, Atiku emphasized the urgent need for Nigerians to get registered and obtain their voter cards.

He warned that no political desire or agitation for change will count in 2027 if citizens are not properly equipped to vote.

Atiku also stressed that the first step toward reclaiming the country is active participation in the electoral process.

The former Vice President also used the opportunity to criticize the current administration, arguing that the APC has failed in its responsibility to improve the welfare of citizens.

He said the country is dealing with soaring inflation, rising hunger, insecurity, and deepening poverty, adding that the government has not shown the capacity or willingness to fix the problems.

Atiku noted that the ADC’s leadership structure in Taraba and across the country is made up of competent individuals who are prepared to manage national resources more responsibly.

He expressed confidence that the party can win at both state and federal levels if Nigerians rally behind it in 2027.

The event also featured the inauguration of the ADC Transition Committee for Taraba State. Senator Abubakar Tutare was appointed as chairman, with Barrister Haruna Kwetishe serving as secretary.

Party leaders said the committee will oversee strategic preparations ahead of the next general elections.

Taraba ADC chairman, Hassan Adamu, also addressed supporters, saying the party is rapidly gaining acceptance among residents.

He assured that the ADC will present a strong alternative for voters who are dissatisfied with the current state of the nation.
