2027: It Will Be Difficult to Challenge Tinubu in FCT – Wike Brags

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s impressive performance and fulfilment of his promises make it difficult for anyone to challenge him in Abuja.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Wike made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration of the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway, ONEX, in Abuja.

He said the President’s achievements are evident and undeniable.

“It’s not about theory, but reality,” he said.

“You said you would do this, and you have done it. What else is there to say?”

Wike’s praise comes despite the President’s relatively low performance in the FCT during the 2023 presidential election, where he secured only 18.99% of the votes, losing to Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who won the capital city with 58.85% of the votes.

However, with the next presidential election scheduled for 2027 and taking Wike’s statement into consideration, there seems to be an indication of a shift in political dynamics in the capital.

Earlier, President Tinubu named the newly inaugurated road as Professor Wole Soyinka Highway, honouring the renowned author’s contributions to African literature and his historic Nobel Prize for Literature win.
