The leadership of the Obidient Movement on Friday launched a campaign to ensure rigging is made difficult for different political thugs across the country.
The campaign tagged, ‘Go Get Your PVC’ and ‘Get Organised – Make Election Rigging Difficult’ (GO-MERD) was launched in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking at a press conference, the State Coordinator of the Movement, Ben Smith assured members of the movement that a new Nigeria is possible.
Smith said it is important for all well-meaning Nigerians to work together to ensure that the right people are elected into political offices during the 2027 election.
He also called on all Nigerians of voting age to join the process by registering and obtaining their voter cards to enable them to elect right leaders.
“Today, as we launch the GO-MERD Campaign here in Akwa Ibom State, know that GO-MERD means Get Organised – Make Election Rigging Difficult. GO-MERD is revolutionary because it places the burden of ensuring electoral integrity in your hands. GO-MERD allows you to take ownership of the electoral process.”
“Shall we stand idle while kleptocrats mortgage the destiny of our children yet unborn? Shall we keep silent while the sweat of our fathers and the prayers of our mothers are wasted? This is the moment. Get Your PVC & GO-MERD Akwa Ibom State if your answers to these questions are an emphatic no,” Smith said.
According to him, the Obidient Movement has also opened a registration portal for all members to register and join a voting bloc.
He also enjoined members to visit the website, https://member.obidients.com/voting-bloc/m5816pun for their registration.
“The polling unit is our battleground. Get Your PVC & GO-MERD Akwa Ibom State. This is your chance. If you just turned 18, go and register. If you have lost your PVC, this is the time to replace it,” he added.
