2027: Ohanaeze Ndigbo backs Umahi’s support for Tinubu, gives reasons

The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has thrown its weight behind the Minister of Works, David Umahi who came under fire across some quarters of the polity for supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Ohanaeze said Umahi has been entrusted with the great responsibility of passing the collective decision of Ndigbo and their leaders concerning the projects and policies of the president.

According to the apex Igbo socio-political group, the president has continuously shown committment to the challenges confronting the Southeast region and the Igbo nation at large.

In a statement issued by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the deputy president General of the group, Ohanaeze said Ndigbo collectively mandated the minister to relay the vital message to the president.

Isiguzoro said Ndigbo are collectively supporting President Tinubu’s administration until 2031, with an emphatic endorsement of his re-election in 2027.

He also listed some of the initiatives and projects carried out by Tinubu’s administration in the region.

He said, “This support is accompanied by important demands that address the pressing needs of our region.”

Further calling on opposition parties and Igbo groups to stop the hostilities in the media against Umahi, Isiguzoro said these parties should refrain from meddling in the affairs of the Igbo people.

“The Igbo people appreciate President Tinubu’s investments and policies that favour our region, and we are committed to reciprocating these gestures in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

In conclusion, let it be known that the Southeast will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the progress being made in our region. We stand united in our support for Senator Umahi and the Tinubu administration, as we collectively strive for a brighter future for Ndigbo,” he added.
