Three residents of Shia Village in Bokkos local government of Plateau state have been killed by some bandits who attacked the community.
The bandits were said to have launched the attack on the community at about 10.30 pm on Monday, January 7, 2025.
Confirming the incident, Samuel Amalau, the chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, said six other people were injured during the attack by the gunmen.
Amalau said those injured are currently recieicing the needed medical attention in an undisclosed facility in Bokkos.
He said, “This is a season of jubilation and excitement across our land yet some individuals, driven by malicious intent, have chosen to cause harm to lives and property. This act is deeply disheartening and unacceptable.”
He also urged security agencies across the country to ensure they swing into action by intensifying efforts to arrest the perpetrators of the criminal act.
Amalau said maintaining peace and order in the community and across Benue state is paramount for his administration.
He further assured that the LGA in his administration, is working tirelessly with security agencies and operatives to prevent a recurrence of such incident in Bokkos.
