50-year-old man leads nephew’s kidnap, gets N200,000 out of N13m ransom

Ado Haruna, 50, has been arrested by the police for leading the kidnap of his nephew, Bashiru Anas and his family in Kaduna state.

Haruna, resident of Unguwar Kanawa, Dutse Abba was said to have received M200,000 out of a N13 million ransom which was paid to the gang for the release of the victims.

Parading the suspect, the Force Public Relations Offucer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the kidnappers received N13 million alongside four motorcycles and Airtel recharge cards worth N300,000 as ransom.

According to Adejobi, the suspected kidnap team lead led three bandits, namely, Shago Yaro, Tanimu Ayuba, and Lamido Dantajiri, to the residence of his nephew Anas at about 1 am.

He said that the criminals upon invading the house realised that their target was not at home.

They went ahead to abduct his two wives, three children, his younger brother, and his brother’s wife.

Having held the victims in their enclave in a forest between Buruku and Sabo Birni for 60 days, Haruna described Anas as his son.

He said, “I am a farmer and a vigilante. It’s true that I led the bandits to Alhaji Anas’ house.

“Anas is my son – my nephew. I know one of the bandits who asked me to show them Alhaji Anas’ house,” Haruna added.
