POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the operation, carried out by personnel from the 3 Battalion, Effurun Army and Ekpan Division of the Nigerian Police, took place on Monday at Agadaga Ave., off Jakpa Road, Ekpan.
This newspaper learnt that the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass in response to numerous complaints from residents regarding the activities of kidnappers and armed robbers in Ekpan, Warri, and surrounding areas, authorised the raid.
The search focused on an unfinished building within the criminals’ hideout.
The recovered arsenal includes one AK-47 rifle equipped with five loaded magazines containing 161 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, as well as one assault rifle with two loaded magazines carrying 59 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. Additionally, the operatives discovered two English pump-action guns, 110 live cartridges, one double barrel gun, one single barrel gun, a toy gun, several cutlasses, and a collection of charms.
Speaking about the operation, DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, highlighted the commitment of the team to apprehending the hoodlums responsible for the criminal activities. Efforts are underway to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice.
