The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the leadership of the upper-lawmaking body are currently meeting with organised labour at the National Assembly complex in Abuja to discuss the removal of fuel subsidy.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the meeting is at the invitation of the Senate.
Organised labour is demanding a reduction in the pump price of petroleum following the removal of subsidy on the product by the Tinubu-led administration. They are also demanding an increase in minimum wage, among other demands.
The meeting comes after organised labour organised a nationwide protest to push their demands. The protest was suspended after a meeting with the Federal Government, which later withdrew a court case it had filed against the unions.
