The Labour Party (LP) in Kaduna got a big boost on Thursday as nine ward chairmen of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in the state defected to the LP with thousands of their supporters.
The Chairmen defected with their supporters from Kujama, Narayi, Sabon-Tasha, Kakau, Sabon-Gari Rido, Nasarawa, Gwagwada and Yelwa wards.
Receiving the defectors at his constituency office in Sabo, Kaduna, the Member representing Kajuru/Chikun Federal Constituency, Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, said they took a wise decision to dump NNPP, now riddled with crises.
Ekene said, “History is about to be made in Kaduna and the nation because the Labour Party is a movement set to present a benchmark for good governance and take over the reins of power for the benefit of all.
“I specially congratulate all of you for this decision. When you give people good representation, they will have no choice but to take advantage of the process.
“So we will continue to do our best as we have always done to ensure they get what belongs to them and improve their livelihoods”.
Hon. Ekene urged others who mean well for the constituents to join LP to succeed together.
The ward chairman of Kujama ward, Mr. Nuhu Aruwa, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said, “We have no choice but to come and associate with LP considering the good works Ekene has been doing since he assumed office as lawmaker.
“We have come to join the party that has the interest of Nigerians at heart. We need people like Hon. Ekene in our society”.
