BREAKING: 2024 Budget passes second reading in House of Reps a day after debate commenced

The 2024 Appropriation Bill has hurdled its second reading in the House of Representatives a day after debate commenced at the green chambers.

Lawmakers debated during plenary sessions yesterday and today before admitting the bill for further scrutiny.

President Bola Tinubu kickstarted the process by presenting a groundbreaking proposed budget of N27 trillion for the upcoming year during a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives earlier this week.

The House of Representatives, on Thursday, began the debate on the budget preparatory to passage for Second Reading.

Leading the debate on the general principles of the budget, House Leader, Julius Ihonvbere commended President Bola Tinubu, noting that national security and education, which got significant allocations, will be enhanced if implemented.
