The Court of Appeal in Lagos has dismissed the appeals filed against the election of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.
The appeals were brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their respective governorship candidates.
The three-man Appeal Court panel unanimously upheld Otti’s victory, stating that it complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act. The court ruled that the appellants’ petitions lacked merit, describing them as “a comedy skit brought to a democratic setting.”
The court clarified that issues of political party membership fall within the jurisdiction of the political party itself and that Otti’s membership with the Labour Party and subsequent submission of his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rendered him eligible to contest the election.
Addressing the PDP and its candidate’s concerns regarding the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), the appeal court noted that the appellants failed to provide sufficient evidence to support their claims.
this is very important to me and the other people of Nigeria thanks
Why is the same case against governor of Kano state is different………
Nigeria judiciary inconsistent judgement will sink this country
Nice ruling, they should allow Otti to work in Abia state. Nice 1999, they have ravished Abia state like an infection in a poultry. When they are done, they run into Senate.
Alex Otti and Labor Party won the Governorship election in Abia State. APC and PDP doesn’t have anything to offer Abians, except corruption, criminality, killings, wastefulness, roguery, sorrows, poverty, tears, thievery and worse.
The good God will rebuke the Devil and his wicked men that remain bent on destroying the lives of Abia citizens. But for another alm of their evil called court,I would have ignored them. But God is not asleep.Abians will survive but the camps of these occultists will be ruined in Jesus name.
Abia State is one of the luckiest state among the states in Nigeria, the people have been liberated from the Strong Mad hold of the political Demons of Nigeria, Abia State department. Freed now are the people and they can never go back to bondages again. #NeverAgainInAbiaState.
