Nigerian senators donate 1 month salaries to victims of Kaduna airstrike mishap

In a compassionate move to assist the victims of the devastating drone attack in Tudun Biri, Kaduna state, Nigerian senators have rallied together, collectively donating their one-month salaries amounting to N109 million to support those affected by the tragic incident.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, alongside a delegation of senators, visited Kaduna State to extend their sympathies to the affected community.

Senator Barau expressed the Senate’s deep concern over the heartbreaking loss of over 100 lives in the unfortunate attack.

“In this hour of grief, we stand in solidarity with the affected people, their families, and the state government. On behalf of the Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, and all 109 senators, we convey our heartfelt condolences,” Senator Barau stated.

“As a gesture of support, all 109 senators have unanimously agreed to donate their one-month salaries, totalling N109 million, to assist the victims,” he added.

On his part, Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, expressed appreciation for the swift visit and support from both the executive and legislative branches in the aftermath of the incident.

He emphasized that the attack should not be used to stoke religious or ethnic divisions in the state.

Governor Uba Sani condemned any attempts to politicize the tragedy, affirming that the incident was not linked to religious or ethnic differences.

He underlined the unity among Christians and Muslims in Kaduna, highlighting the collective stance against attempts to sow discord.

“Both Christians and Muslims are one, he said.

Additionally, the governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to bolstering security efforts and collaborating with security agencies to ensure the safety of residents. Furthermore, he reiterated the call for establishing state police to enhance regional security operations.
