The Ondo State House of Assembly has received the letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, transmitting power to his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The assembly, therefore, declared Aiyedatiwa as deputy governor pending the return of the Akeredolu, who proceeded on another medical vacation.
This development was confirmed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, on Wednesday. He stated that the governor’s decision was in line with Section 190 of the Nigerian Constitution.
“Following the Doctor’s advice on the need for medical follow-up after recuperating, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON has forwarded the letter on medical leave to the State House of Assembly,” Oladiji said.
According to the letter, Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa will assume full responsibility as Acting Governor until Akeredolu’s return. The exact duration of the governor’s leave remains unclear.
While expressing gratitude for Akeredolu’s recent recovery, Oladiji expressed optimism that the governor will resume his duties soon.
