Herdsmen invade Ekiti community, destroy over 30 farmlands

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have invaded a farming community in Ekiti State and destroyed dozens of farmlands.

This is according to some farmers operating at Idege farmstead under Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The farmers urged on the government and security agencies to provide security for them, saying “armed herders” are on their heels to “eliminate them”.

The farmers who decried the destruction of several hectares of farmlands in the area by suspected herders said their farms spanning several hectares of lands were ravaged by cattle that were being reared free-ranged by some Fulani nomads.

One of the victims, who identified himself as Ibrahim, told journalists in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, that over 30 farmers in the farmstead were affected by the destruction.

In another development, suspected Fulani herdsmen have launched fresh attack on another Plateau community killing at least five persons.
