President Bola Tinubu has, while celebrating a historic box office milestone set by filmmaker Funke Akindele praised the Nigerian entertainment industry for its “unrivaled ingenuity”.
Reacting to the record-breaking success of Akindele’s latest movie, “A Tribe Called Judah,” which became the first Nollywood film to surpass a billion naira in ticket sales, Tinubu, through his media aide Ajuri Ngelale, said the medium (Nollywood) is not only for artistic expression but also as a source of enormous soft power and viable export.
He said, “The creative industry is one of the high-employment sectors, providing jobs for our able and talented youths. It is an industry that is crucial to my administration.
“I salute Nigerians for their enduring support and patronage of home-grown creative efforts. We will provide the conducive environment for the industry to thrive further,” Tinubu stated.
