Sporadic shooting as bandits kill 1, kidnap 7, injure 2 policemen in Abuja community

An attempted kidnapping in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) resulted in the loss of life and injuries to two policemen.

Bandits, aiming to abduct seven family members, engaged in a violent gunshot encounter with the law enforcement officers, leaving a middle-aged man dead.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Zuma 1, Bwari central ward, as the armed assailants targeted a household.

According to eyewitness Isaiah Samuel, the attackers strategically positioned themselves around the victim’s residence.

Alerted by suspicious noises, the intended victim swiftly contacted a relative known as Alhaji for assistance.

“It was when the man suspected a strange sound in front of his house that he immediately called his brother, popularly called Alhaji, to alert the police”, Samuel told The Will, adding that Alhaji was leading a team of policemen to the house when one of the bandits hiding at a corner shot him dead.

“The bandits eventually succeeded in whisking away the man and his family members because the distance from the victim’s house to where the police engaged the bandits is far”, he added.
