A branch of the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) in Mangu local government area of Plateau has been set ablaze by armed herdsmen.
According to Sahara Reporters, the assailants are not only torching church buildings but also attacking individuals perceived to be Christians in the area.
The violent incident is causing commotion in Mangu town, with residents scrambling for safety.
According to an anonymous resident, the armed men emerged from surrounding bushes, launching the attacks on the COCIN Church near Sabon Kasuwa and advancing towards other churches in the town.
The situation is said to have escalated tensions in the area.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has already declared a 24-hour curfew in the area ”to prevent further violence and protect the lives and properties of the residents.”
