Market women in Ogun state call for Tinubu’s resignation as economic hardship bites harder

Amidst rising economic challenges and soaring prices, market women in Ogun State are demanding the resignation of President Bola Tinubu.

The aggrieved women, expressing their frustration with the prevailing economic hardships, voiced their concerns in a video obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday.

In the video, the market women criticized Tinubu’s administration, highlighting the severe impact of escalating prices on their livelihoods.

Some even went as far as threatening to confront the President directly.

The market women stated that Tinubu has disappointed Nigerians, especially the Yoruba community. An elderly woman lamented, “He has disappointed us in Yoruba land; he is not behaving like a Yoruba man.”

Another woman vividly described the economic challenges: “Everything is so costly to the extent that we cannot afford to buy one bowl of garri. We are tired of everything. When I started business, a carton of fish was 200 naira, but now it is 20,000 naira.”

The dire situation was emphasized with remarks like, “We don’t have food to eat; old people are dying. Business is not moving, and there’s nothing. We are all hungry. This problem is too much. If you can’t solve our problem, don’t add to it.”

Expressing disappointment with the current state of affairs, another trader pleaded with President Tinubu to show mercy on Nigerians. She stated, “We’re tired of Nigeria; everything is costly, everything is getting costly every day. What he promised us is not what’s happening now. This is too much.”

The frustration reached a point where one of the traders boldly asserted, “We will beat the President if we have an opportunity to see him; we will beat him. What he told us is not what he is doing.”

The economic conditions and the brunt of rising prices and financial hardships have taken a toll on most Nigerians in the last few months.
