The Super Eagles of Nigeria returned to the Federal Capital Territory early Tuesday morning following their second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 25-man squad, led by Minister of Sports Development Senator John Owan Enoh and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 12:30 am, as confirmed by Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Diana-Mary Nsan, in a video shared on Instagram.
She wrote: “At 12:30 am, the Super Eagles landed home, led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, the NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
”On the tarmac, we had the GS of the NFF Dr Sanusi and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Mrs Watti among others.#AFCON2023 #SuperEagles”
The Super Eagles’ return comes after a dramatic tournament that saw them reach the final, ultimately falling 2-1 to the host nation Ivory Coast.
