The Lagos State House of Assembly has said that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the current socio-economic hardship facing the country.
Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, urged Nigerians to exercise with the Tinubu administration which, according to him, is doing everything possible to curtail the situation.
“The immediate concern is to appeal to our people. Protests and violence will not solve anything but take us backwards,” Obasa said.
“Nobody prayed for the current situation, but we must work hand-in-hand to take us away from this mess. It is not the president’s fault, neither is it the governor’s fault,” he added.
The Speaker also called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently summon a stakeholders’ meeting on how to address the economic hardship in the state.
The lawmakers also noted that the government should adopt sustainable solutions beyond the distribution of palliatives.
They also urged political leaders and statesmen to join forces with the government and play persuasive roles instead of inciting the people against the government over the hardship in the land.
We must protest! Till things change
We don’t need to be told who is responsible for current hardship and suffering in Nigeria. The masses and whole world know who is responsible. Coming with a different narrative will change the truth and facts. It’s more hurting to be making excuses and blaming others for your deeds and failures.
