In a dramatic turn of events, the Zamfara State House of Assembly is on the brink of impeaching its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, pending any unexpected changes or political interventions.
A significant majority of more than two-thirds of the Assembly members, totaling 18 lawmakers, have signed an official impeachment notice.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the Assembly complex in Gusau is under heavy security as armed police personnel have taken positions at the entrance gate. The heightened security measures aim to forestall any potential disruption of law and order.
The Seventh Zamfara State House of Assembly was inaugurated on June 13th, 2023 with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP constituting the Majority.
