The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate redeployment of Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Dandaura Mustapha.
Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, disclosed this in a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA.
According to the statement, Mustapha is replaced by Joseph Gobum Mukari, adding that the redeployment takes immediate effect.
He noted that Mustapha is now the commissioner of police, Provost at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The statement read: “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has ordered the posting and redeployment of the following Senior Police Officers to Command/Formation/Department indicated against their names:
i. CP Dandaura Mustapha – CP Provost FHQ, Abuja.
ii. CP Joseph Gobum Mukan, psc(+) – CP Rivers Command
iii. CP Musa Adze, fdc – CP Anti-Fraud Unit
“The IGP charges the affected Commissioners of Police to diligently and professionally discharge their duties in their new areas of responsibilities.
“The posting and the redeployment of the affected Senior Police Officers is with immediate effect.”
The redeployment is coming hours after Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State ordered the arrest of 22 workers of Exxon Mobil for violating the lockdown order in the state to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.
During a media briefing on Friday in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Wike said the state government arrested the oil workers for entering the state from Akwa Ibom.
He, however, vowed to prosecute the Exxon Mobil workers for contravening the Executive Order.
The governor added that he would not receive orders from President Muhammadu Buhari regarding exempting oil companies from entering the state.
Wike said he would only receive instructions concerning the release of the oil workers after speaking with the president.
He said: “Security agencies arrested 22 staff of Exxon Mobil who came into the state from neighbouring Akwa Ibom State in violation of the extant Executive Order restricting movement into the state. We do not know the coronavirus status of these individuals.
“Even though security agencies advised that they be allowed to go back to Akwa Ibom State, I insisted that the law must take its course. This is because nobody is above the law.
“As a responsive government, we have quarantined them in line with the relevant health protocols and they will be charged to court.”

@ Oyegade what do you mean orders are meant to be respected for Christ sake. The federal gave an order to its citizens to lockdown which all state and individuals complied to. If the governor has placed embargo on restrictions from entering the state as a measure to curtail the spread of the deadly virus, for Christ sack it should be respected.
