Gov Buni reconciles Yahaya Bello, Ajaka ahead of 2027 polls

Yobe State governor, Mai Mala- Buni has brokered peace between the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello and the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.

The reconciliation process took place on Wednesday, when Buni accompanied Ajaka to visit Bello at his residence.

Speaking during the visit, the Yobe State governor said that as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), every dispute must ultimately lead to reconciliation.

Also describing Ajaka and Bello as brothers who have worked together for years, Buni said the duo must put all grievances from the past elections behind them.

“Your Excellency, Ajaka is your brother, and I know both of you well. This division cannot continue. As I have discussed with you, together we shall make progress. I thank you for your forgiving spirit and for this reconciliation today.

“I also appreciate all members of the Reconciliation Committee, especially Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, including yourself, who is also a member,” Buni said.

In his address, the former Kogi State governor issued an apology to the reconciliation delegation led by Buni.

He also commended their efforts and welcomed Ajaka back to his political fold.

He said, “Several others have also called and met with me on behalf of my brother, Yakubu, urging me to forgive him for any wrongdoing. This evening, I pointed out where he erred—politically, culturally, and otherwise—and he has accepted responsibility and apologised.

“I hereby welcome him back into the fold. He has always been part of me and our political family; it is more like a blood relationship. However, sometimes ambition can outweigh judgment,” Bello stated.
