Lawmakers extend Easter, Sallah break till April 23

The House of Representatives has extended its ongoing break from Tuesday, April 16, 2024, to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

This was contained in a memo to the members of the House by the Clerk,  Dr. Yahaya DanZaria, and seen by the The Nation on Friday, April 5, 2024.

With this extension, there are strong indications that the House may resume from its Easter and Sallah break at the main chamber.

Since the renovation works started in 2022, members have been using a makeshift chamber at the new Reps building.

The Senate chamber and other parts of the National Assembly building are also undergoing renovation.

The memo read, “Dear honourable members, I write to respectfully inform you that the resumption date from the ongoing recess has been rescheduled from Tuesday, April 16, 2024, to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

“All inconveniences are highly regretted. Your understanding or cooperation regarding this change is highly appreciated. Please make  necessary adjustments to your schedules and ensure your presence on the new resumption date.

“I wish you all productive constituency engagements during this extended recess period. Please stay safe and take all necessary precautions”.
