“Peter Obi Will Be Voted Out” — NDC Aspirants Send Strong Warning Ahead of 2027

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has declared that no leader would be spared from public scrutiny if elected into office, including former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This position was made known on Friday by House of Representatives aspirants under the platform of the NDC during a press conference held in Abuja in collaboration with the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy, COPDEM.
The meeting came days after Obi and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, aligned with the NDC as political activities and coalition talks continue to gather momentum ahead of the next presidential election.
Speaking during the briefing, Nnamdi Iroegbu, an aspirant for the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency seat in Imo State, said Nigerians must continue to demand accountability from every government, regardless of who occupies the presidency.
According to him, the country has suffered for years because leaders were rarely held responsible after assuming office.
“Every government must be held accountable, including a Peter Obi presidency. If he fails to deliver on the mandate of Nigerians, he will be voted out,” he said.
Iroegbu noted that the coalition backing the NDC was built around the desire to create a system where elected officials remain answerable to the people throughout their time in office.
Another aspirant, Kingsley Ndube, who is contesting for the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency seat, said lawmakers elected on the party’s platform would focus on protecting public interest rather than pursuing personal benefits.
He stated that members of the National Assembly must return to their constitutional responsibility of oversight and accountability.
“We will always ask questions,” he said.
Ndube added that Nigerians were becoming more politically conscious and would no longer tolerate weak representation or leaders who fail to fulfil campaign promises.
Also speaking, Gambari Ismaila, an NDC aspirant for the Bwari Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, described the party as a movement driven by the need for political reforms and national rebuilding.
He said the coalition behind the NDC was committed to promoting equity, transparency and better governance across the country.
According to him, many Nigerians, especially young people, have become frustrated with the current political structure and are now demanding a system that guarantees fairness, inclusion and economic progress.
