The Federal Government has introduced a Delivery Tracker App, empowering citizens to monitor and assess the performance of all ministries by viewing their deliverables and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Officials say the initiative aims to promote inclusive governance and accountability, allowing citizens to provide feedback directly to the government.
The launch of the Delivery Tracker App was officiated by Hadiza Bala-Usman, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy and Coordination, and Head of the Policy Coordination and Delivery Unit (CDCU).
The event took place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, where Bala-Usman emphasised Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and citizen participation.
Bala-Usman said: “All ministers would be held accountable for deliverables to the citizens. In arriving at the deliverables and key performance indicators, the CDCU, supported by development partners and consultants, held numerous bilateral meetings with all the ministers, permanent secretaries, and their respective technical teams over a period of six weeks.
“The bilateral sessions looked at the mandate of the respective ministries in line with the Presidential Priority Areas and arrived at the final deliverable and KPIs.
“For the record, the Presidential Priority Areas are: Reforming the economy to deliver sustained and inclusive growth; Strengthening national security for peace and prosperity; Boosting agriculture to achieve food security; Unlocking energy and natural resources for sustainable development; Enhancing infrastructure and transportation as enablers for growth; Focusing on education, health, and social investment as essential pillars of development as well as accelerating diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation and Improving governance for effective service delivery.
“For each of these priority areas, we agreed on specific deliverables and developed KPIs which formed the basis for the Performance Bond, which all ministers and permanent secretaries signed with the president in November 2023. These parameters will guide the Quarterly Assessments and Annual Scorecards, which the CDCU is mandated to present to the president.
“The president also insisted that the pain points of citizens must be recognised in developing the deliverables and KPIs. In line with the directive, the CDCD worked with our partners to further review the deliverables into granular issues that have a direct impact on the lives of Nigerians.”
Nasiru Yamamma, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination and head of the CCDU, confirmed the App’s functionality, describing it as user-friendly and covering all eight priority areas. He emphasised the system’s transparency, enabling seamless tracking of ministry performance.
Cynthia Rowe, Development Director of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office UK, commended the government for implementing the tracker App and monitoring system, emphasising the importance of citizen trust in government.
She also highlighted the role of citizen feedback in enhancing accountability and governance.
A BRILLIANT MASTERPIECE!
