The Board of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of former U17 World Cup winner Manu Garba as the Head Coach of the Nigeria U17 boys, Golden Eaglets.
Garba’s return to the role, having previously led the Golden Eaglets to victory in the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013.
The 58-year-old’s coaching tenure in 2013 saw the Golden Eaglets clinch the FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, marking Nigeria’s fourth triumph at that level.
His squad boasted players such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Musa Mohammed, Chidiebere Nwakali, and goalkeeper Dele Alampasu.
During the tournament, Garba’s team showcased exceptional performance, including a remarkable 6-1 victory over Mexico in the opening game.
Garba’s appointment comes ahead of the team’s preparations for the upcoming WAFU B U17 Championship, scheduled to take place in Ghana next month.
With his wealth of experience and proven track record, Garba is expected to lead the Golden Eaglets in their quest for success in the tournament.
The NFF expressed confidence in Garba’s ability to guide the team to further achievements.
