A man set himself on fire outside Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday afternoon, coinciding with the ongoing hush money trial involving former President Donald Trump.
Law enforcement sources revealed the harrowing incident, which unfolded just as the jury was being finalized for the historic case at the 100 Centre Street courthouse.
The scene transpired in a barricaded park adjacent to the courthouse around 1:30 p.m.
Eyewitnesses described the man seated amidst flames, his body engulfed in fire, as bystanders rushed to his aid with fire extinguishers.
Footage captured the horrifying moment, showing the man’s blackened body twitching on the ground after the flames were doused.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, including the method or device used to ignite the blaze.
Promptly attended to by first responders, the man was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, although his condition remains uncertain.
