“A party with unimpressive background” – PDP chieftain questions APC’s 2023 election victory

Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe, the National Vice Chairman (South West) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed his skepticism over the legitimacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on “The Frontliners”, a panel discussion programme organized by the League of Veteran Journalists in Osun State, Ajisafe questioned the justification for APC’s win, given that they secured only 33 per cent of the total votes cast at the first ballot.

Expressing his legal perspective, Ajisafe argued that aside from legal interpretations, the APC, with its perceived lackluster performance, does not merit an extension of national leadership.

He opined that “apart from the questionable legal interpretation of the electoral victory, a party with such unimpressive background like APC is not deserving of an extension of rulership at the national level.”

Despite the challenges faced by the PDP before the election, Ajisafe emphasized that many Nigerians remain disenchanted with the APC’s performance during President Buhari’s administration.

Ajisafe also pointed out that the outcome of the PDP’s bid was influenced more by internal and external factors than the appeal of its presidential candidate, Atiku bubakar.
