The political crisis rocking the Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to have taken a new turn with the suspension of former governor Raif Aregbesola.
The state APC chapter said that the erstwhile minister of interior is a “distraction” in the party and is no longer a member of the fold.
Aregbesola had created Omoluabi Progressives and also launched its membership registration over the weekend at his ward.
Meanwhile, APC in a communique after its stakeholders meeting held at the party secretariat, Osogbo, signed by its state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal officially notified the party leadership about the upcoming electronic party membership registration as directed by the national secretariat, warning against registering with Aregbesola’s group.
The secretary of the party, Kamoru Alao explained that the registration will start tomorrow after the national chairman of the party inaugurate the committee that will train the trainers at the local levels.
“We are discouraging our members who are loyal party APC member to not go there to register with group of Aregbesola because Omoluabi as a group is not a member of our party in Osun state.
“Rauf Aregbesola in as far as we are concerned in Osun APC, he is no more member of APC. We have taken steps three times to notify the national secretariat that Aregbesola is giving us distractions in APC affairs in the state and then the party at the national should do the needful in dealing with him.
“He is a national figure. But if we cannot handle his case in this state, we have refer his matter to national secretariat and I know, soonest that they are going to act on it.”
Speaking at the meeting, the former deputy governor of Osun State, Benedict Alabi, passed vote of confidence on Minister of Marine And Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
“Anyone who is calling for the sack of the Oyetola is only political, everyone knows that he is a silent worker and achiever,” he said.
“When you are having a new ministry, you need to put a lot of structures in place. I am sure that those who call for the sack of Oyetola under political gimmicks will have a regret of what they have said when they see the outcome of what they have put in place,” Alabi added.
