President Muhammadu Buhari has lost another close aide a few days after the death of his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the president’s personal bodyguard, Lawal Mato, lost his battle with diabetes on Tuesday. He was from Jigawa state. Reacting to his death, Buhari described Mato as a “very thorough, trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus.’’
He prayed that Allah would grant his family, government and people of Jigawa State, the fortitude to bear the loss. Lawal Mato was part of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s personal security team and was restored by Buhari in 2015.
He had worked closely with President Buhari after Yar’Adua’s death in 2010.
