IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Breaks Silence, Speaks on Killings of Soldiers in South East [VIDEO]

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has broken his silence on the recent spate of killings of soldiers in the South East region

Kanu, who appeared in Federal High Court Abuja for his trial, condemned the killings in their entirety.

According to him, IPOB as a group is committed to non-violence.

“We were founded on a non-violent principle, and we maintain that stand,” he said. “Some of these soldiers are our people, and their families are mourning. I condemn all the killings. We want people to be free, not violence.”

Kanu’s stance comes as his legal team has been canvassing for his release, citing domestic and international court judgments in favour of his release.

The team, led by Barr. Nnaemeka Ejiofor, submitted a comprehensive list of judgments to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja.

Ejiofor urged President Bola Tinubu to respect the judgments and release Kanu.

It should be recalled that on May 24, the AGF had stated that Kanu’s case was a difficult one which would be resolved by the court.

Kanu has been in DSS custody since June 2021, facing terrorism-related trial levelled by the Federal Government.
