A Federal High Court in Kano has rescheduled its ruling on the Council Repeal Law 2024 to 2 pm today, Thursday.
The ruling was initially set for 12 pm but was shifted before midday.
The law in question was used by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to dethrone Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and reverse the creation of four emirates by his predecessor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The law also led to the re-appointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano.
However, Aminu Babba Danagundi, a kingmaker in the former Kano emirate, challenged the law and asked the court to declare it null and void. Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman heard the motion last Friday and adjourned the case to today for ruling.
The judge will also rule on a motion for stay of proceedings filed by the State Attorney General and Kano State Government.
