JUST IN: Bandits Kill Six Farmers in Fresh Attack on Niger Community

Six farmers were reportedly killed on Friday night in a fresh attack by suspected armed bandits in Unguwar Wawa community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident was disclosed on Saturday in a post on X by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist who reports on insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.

According to the report, the attackers invaded the community at about 10:00 p.m. and opened fire on farmers working on their farmlands.

The assailants reportedly fled the area after the attack, leaving residents in shock, fear, and mourning.

The incident has further heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in the area, especially for rural farming communities that have increasingly become targets of violent attacks.

Residents have called on security agencies to take urgent action to protect lives and property in vulnerable and remote communities.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities and relevant security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
