JUST IN: El-Rufai Storms Court Over ₦432bn Fraud Allegations by Kaduna Assembly [PHOTO]

The immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, appeared in the Federal High Court today to officially support his lawsuit against the Kaduna State House of Assembly and the state government.

The former governor initiated the lawsuit to defend his fundamental rights in response to accusations of financial mismanagement.

El-Rufai, who served as governor for eight years, is facing allegations from the House of Assembly that his administration misappropriated ₦432 billion.

The Assembly claims this mismanagement has left the state in significant financial debt.

El-Rufai’s lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, filed the fundamental rights suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Wednesday.

El-rufai’s legal team argues that the report was compiled without giving the former governor a fair hearing, and therefore, should be declared null and void.

The lawsuit names the Kaduna State House of Assembly and the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice as respondents.
