The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Gabriel Saleh of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the rerun election for the Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The election, held on Saturday, saw Saleh emerge victorious with 42,461 votes, defeating his closest rival, Umar Gurara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 26,208 votes. Austin of the Labour Party (LP) trailed behind with 2,311 votes.
The returning officer, Prof. Saleh Ado, declared Saleh the winner, stating that he had satisfied the requirements of the law.
Reacting, Saleh expressed gratitude to the people of Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency for reaffirming their support for him and promised to build on his previous achievements.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party candidate, Augustine Umar Danbaba, accepted the verdict and pledged to work with the winner for the development of the constituency.
