Niger governor gifts all Batch B NYSC members 20 cows, trailer of rice, N200,000 each

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger has announced that each of the 1,600 corps members posted to the state will receive a bonus of N200,000 from Niger Farms, amounting to a total of N320 million.

Governor Bago also stated that the state government will allocate N5 billion towards constructing a permanent orientation camp for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state.

He made the declarations during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, Niger State.

Additionally, the governor pledged to provide 20 cows and a trailer load of rice to further support the corps members.

Governor Bago stated, “All corps members serving in Niger State today are entitled to a N200,000 bonus from Niger farms. This is to give you comfort to stay in Niger State.

“We want to build a brand new NYSC camp. So, Niger State is putting N5 billion to build a new NYSC camp for you.”

The governor also promised automatic employment for corps members in the medical field upon completion of their service.

He encouraged the corps members to participate in his agricultural revolution initiative, with assurances of support for those interested in farming through Niger Foods Limited.

A total of 1,301 corps members have been posted to the state under the 2024 NYSC Batch B Stream I Orientation Course.

The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Mariya Ismail, who represented the Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima AbdulMalik.
