Troops of the Nigerian Army in a joint operation with hybrid forces and Civilian Joint Task force have eliminated 11 Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Jongo, Sambisa Forest, Bama LGA of Borno State.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday, July 6, by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.
According to Makama, the troops recovered various weapons, which included: 99 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammo links, 19 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 special ammo, three AK-4 rifle magazines, 47 rounds of ammunition, two locally made guns, and two hand grenades.
He wrote: “Nigerian Army in conjunction with hybrid forces and Civilian Joint Task force, nutrialosed 11 ISWAP terrorists in a raid on their enclave in Jongo, Sambisa Forest, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
“Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, that the troops recorded the feats on Friday, July 5, 2024 during a major incursion into the terrorists hideouts.
“The sources said that the troops also recovered various weapons and ammunition, including 99 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammo link, 19 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 special ammo, three AK-4 rifle magazines, 47 rounds of ammunition, two locally made guns, and two hand grenades.
“The military reported no casualties, while one member of the hybrid force was wounded in action.”
