EX-Ebonyi lawmaker, Eni Uduma Chima emerges PDP Reps flagbearer for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency
A two-term former lawmaker in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and former Chairman of Edda Local Government Area, Hon. Eni Uduma Chima has emerged as the standard bearer of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
Declaring the results of a peacefully-conducted direct primary at Afikpo, the headquarters of the Constituency, the Chairman of the Electoral committee, Barr. Stanley Okoche Nkaa said Hon. Eni scored a total of 306 votes to emerge unopposed as the Party’s candidate.
“At the end of this election and after counting of votes, I, Stanley Okoche Nkaa as the Chairman of the committee, is pleased to announce that Barr. Eni Uduma Chima scored 306 votes to emerge the winner unopposed.
With the powers conferred on me as the Chairman of this electoral committee therefore, I hereby declare Hon. Eni Uduma Chima as the winner of this election and he is consequently returned elected”, Nkaa remarked.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Eni Uduma who appreciated Party faithfuls for the confidence reposed on him to represent them.
According to him, “The confidence reposed in me which has been affirmed today, 17th of May, 2026 by all of you is quite commendable.And I want to assure you that the trust you placed in me will not be disappointed.
I have contested for 6 elections and I have won in 4. This will make it my 7th and I will win by the grace of God and with your support. That is why we are back to our Party- the PDP.
We have entered a shift in the paradigm- status quo flux that will remove power from the elites and give it back to the masses. The era of a few persons selecting our leaders is gone. That is the basic tenet of democracy.
When I’m elected, all the things that I’m supposed to do as a member of the National Assembly, I will do it”, Eni assured his constituents, decrying that the injustice of zoning the Rep ticket to his Edda LGA after 20 years in Afikpo spurred him to challenge the status quo.
Earlier in his address to Party faithfuls shortly before the exercise, a PDP Chieftain Barr Mudi Erhenede boasted that the PDP will be victorious in the general elections of 2027 in Ebonyi State.
“Ours is one to beat in the 2027 general elections and we will indeed return power to the people”, he stated.
It will be recalled that Hon. Eni had on 30th April resigned his membership of the APC and also as Chairman of Board of Ebonyi Fertilizer Blending Company a position he held since 2024. He consequently obtained his declaration of interest and nomination forms in the PDP recently.
