BREAKING: Tinubu Set to Submit New National Minimum Wage Bill to Nat’l Assembly

President Bola Tinubu is set to transmit the highly anticipated New National Minimum Wage bill to the National Assembly next week, barring any last-minute changes.

According to Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, President Tinubu is likely to take a final decision on the new minimum wage on Thursday this week.

The minister made the disclosure after Monday’s FEC meeting chaired by President Tinubu.

He also disclosed that the President will be meeting with the organised Labour on Thursday before deciding on an amount that would be forwarded to the National Assembly.

He further said the Federal Executive Council deliberated on the national minimum wage and would invite the organised Labour for a meeting this week.

Recall that President Tinubu had previously met with labour leaders last week to discuss the minimum wage issue.

The Tripartite Committee had submitted two separate figures: N62,000 from the government and private sector, and N250,000 from Organized Labour. Following the dispute over a unified figure, the President promised to engage with stakeholders to resolve the discrepancy before sending the executive bill to the National Assembly.

Idris confirmed that the President will transmit the bill after Thursday’s meeting with labour leaders. Additionally, the executive will submit an amendment to the 2024 budget, which will include the new minimum wage and other essential matters.

  1. Hope the president will forward a formidable figure that could at least be able to respond to the current economic backlashes to the national assembly

  2. I pray that God should touch the heart of our president to agree with labour on #250,000, because that #62,000 can not help in any way.

  3. Just as anything good does not come early if not I will say I’m tired of the issue of this minimum wage everyday next week, next week, New month but next week why please signed this Bill na?
