The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philips Shaibu, disclosed on Friday that he has effectively aligned himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite remaining officially within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an interview on Arise TV’s morning show, Shaibu explained that his support for the APC’s governorship candidate in Edo State stems from his personal alignment with the party, even though he has not yet formally transitioned from the PDP.
“In PDP now, everybody can support whoever they like. On the issue of supporting a candidate, the constitution guarantees that you can support who you like and you can belong to any political party,” Shaibu stated.
Shaibu further criticized the internal dynamics of the PDP, alleging a lack of communication and engagement from the party’s leadership.
He claimed that since the onset of the political crisis in Edo State, he has attempted to reach out to Governor Godwin Obaseki 101 times, but has not received any response or return calls.
