Protesters have set up a bonfire at the Kano Government House amidst reports of violence in various parts of the city.
The protesters, who had gathered from various parts of the city, were expecting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to address them.
However, as they approached the gate, a group of protesters assembled tyres and set them ablaze, sparking a confrontation with security operatives.
The security personnel responded by firing gunshots and teargas to disperse the protesters, causing the crowd to flee in different directions amidst the confusion.
Governor Yusuf on Wednesday, revealed that he had received intelligence about evil-minded individuals planning to hijack the protest.
He therefore invited genuine protesters to gather at Government House, Kano, while issuing a stern warning to troublemakers to stay away from the state.
