“Why I Dumped Peter Obi for Tinubu” – Cubana Chief Priest Finally Opens Up

Popular businessman and socialite, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has explained why he withdrew his support for Peter Obi and aligned himself with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

Cubana Chief Priest, who was one of the high-profile celebrity supporters of Obi during the 2023 presidential election, said he decided to switch loyalty because he does not want to be associated with another electoral defeat.

Speaking during a live chat with popular streamer Peller, the nightlife entrepreneur stated that Obi still lacks the political strength needed to win a presidential election in Nigeria.

“I left Obi because I don’t want to lose again. Peter will still not win because he is not ready,” he said.

His latest remarks have stirred fresh political conversations online, especially among supporters of the Labour Party and the Obidient Movement, many of whom had strongly backed him during the last election cycle.

Cubana Chief Priest had openly campaigned for Obi in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election. He repeatedly used his social media platforms to mobilise support for the former Anambra governor and was seen by many young Nigerians as one of the influential celebrity voices behind Obi’s movement.

However, his political position changed months later after he publicly declared support for President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The businessman is currently one of the coordinators of the City Boys Movement, a political mobilisation group associated with Seyi Tinubu. The group has been actively involved in grassroots campaigns and youth engagement programmes in support of Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
